'snails-bringing-woman-back-to-the-nature-lovingly-and-carefully' manipulates stock images of snail facials to depict a taxonomic revolution triggered by the love story between a woman and a snail. Originally produced to advertise and normalize humans extracting from and exploiting other species for their own perfectibility, the images are distorted and arranged in a way that speculates about the role of posthuman transmutations in the journey to planetary survival.
Following Walter Benjamin’s thinking around the concept of history where he argues that to make us realize the state of emergency we live in, the main subject of history needs to become the struggling and the oppressed; the name of the artwork also manipulates the file name of a stock image by swapping the subject and object, claiming the snail as the main subject instead of the human.
Exhibited as part of Contemporary Istanbul with are projects.
